In less than three months, we will all be able to rejoice as we’ll be back in the thick of another college football season.
The 2024 season will be unique, especially for the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners as the two sides will transition to their first year in the SEC. This season will also mark the introduction of the 12-team College Football Playoffs which the Longhorns will fully expect to be participating in.
The Longhorns 2024 schedule will be among the toughest in the country this year with a Week 2 trip to the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines and a brutal eight-game SEC schedule. A few of the Longhorn’s kick-off times had been previously announced, but today the SEC announced a number of the remaining start times for the conference. Here are all of the Longhorns kick-off times for the 2024 season:
Week 1 vs Colorado State Rams

Game Details: Aug. 31 at 2:30 p.m. (ESPN)
The Rams are coming off of a 5-7 season in 2023 with a 3-5 record in the Mountain West. With the Longhorns in the thick of preseason national title discussions, it could be a long and hot evening for Colorado State as they’ll go into the contest as multi-touchdown underdogs. Texas is 1-0 against Colorado State with the one meeting taking place in 1975.
Week 2 at Michigan Wolverines

Game Details: Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. (FOX)
The Wolverines may be the defending national champions after running the table (15-0) a season ago, but this year’s Michigan team will be a new cast of characters. This off-season, head coach Jim Harbaugh departed for the Los Angeles Chargers and quarterback J.J. McCarthy was selected No. 10 overall in the 2024 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings. The Longhorns are 1-0 all-time against the Wolverines with the lone win coming back in 2005.
Week 3 vs UTSA Roadrunners

Game Details: Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. (ESPN)
The Roadrunners are coming off of a fantastic 2023 campaign where they finished the season 9-4 and 7-1 in the AAC with a Frisco Bowl victory over Marshall. Remarkably, UTSA started the season 1-3 but rallied to win eight of nine games to end the year with their only loss coming against a ranked Tulane side. Texas is 1-0 all-time against UTSA.
Week 4 vs Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks

Game Details: Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. (SEC Network or ESPN+)
The Warhawks are coming off of a very tough 2023 campaign that ended with a 2-10 record and 0-8 in the Sunbelt Conference. Louisiana-Monroe parted ways with former head coach Terry Bowden after the season and hired New Mexico OC Bryant Vincent. Texas is 2-0 all-time against Louisiana-Monroe.
Week 5 vs Mississippi State Bulldogs

Game Details: Sept. 28 between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. (Network TBA)
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are coming off a 5-7 campaign in 2023 and went 1-7 in the SEC. However, they will be under new guidance in 2023 as former Oklahoma OC Jeff Lebby has been tasked with getting the program back into bowl contention. The all-time series between the two sides is tied 2-2.
Week 7 vs Oklahoma Soonners (Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas)

Game Details: Oct. 12 at 2:30 p.m. (ABC or ESPN)
Unfortunately, the Oklahoma Sooners took a big step forward in year two under head coach Brent Venables as they went from a losing record (6-7) in 2022 to achieving 10 wins in 2023. Just like Texas, the biggest question of the upcoming season will be how can they handle the transition to the SEC. The Longhorns lead the all-time series 63-51-5.
Week 8 vs Georgia Bulldogs

Game Details: Oct. 19 between 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. (Network TBA)
In what is arguably the biggest game of the entire season, the Georgia Bulldogs will be in town fresh off a 13-1 season and 63-3 Orange Bowl victory over Florida State. The Bulldogs will likely be the No. 1 ranked team in the country entering the contest if they can get past a road visit to Alabama. Texas leads Georgia 4-1 all-time.
Week 9 at Vanderbilt Commodores

Game Details: Oct. 26 between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. (Network TBA)
Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea has his work cut out for him as he enters his fourth year in charge of the program with a 9-27 record. Coming off a winless SEC campaign and a 2-10 season, it’s hard to see things getting much better in Nashville anytime soon. However, the Commodores do lead the all-time series 8-3-1.
Week 11 vs Florida Gators

Game Details: Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. (ABC or ESPN)
The Florida Gators will need to take a big step forward in 2024 as they are coming off of a 5-7 campaign with a 3-5 record in the SEC. Head coach Billy Napier is in a prove-it year and will need to make a bowl game and pick up a statement win to possibly keep his job. The Longhorns lead the all-time series 2-0-1.
Week 12 at Arkansas Razorbacks

Game Details: Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. (ABC or ESPN)
Similar to Lee and Napier, 2024 is going to be a massive season for head coach Sam Pittman as he is starting to lose some traction. The Razorbacks are coming off an ugly 4-8 season and 1-7 record in the SEC and probably won’t be too eager to play their former Southwest Conference rivals. The Longhorns lead the all-time series 56-23.
Week 13 vs Kentucky Wildcats

Game Details: Nov. 23 between 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. (Network TBA)
The Wildcats football program has been taking some massive steps forward over the past couple of years and has proven to be a perennial bowl contender. Kentucky was 7-6 a season ago despite finishing 3-5 in the SEC, but keeping head coach Mark Stoops in town this off-season was their biggest win. Texas won the lone matchup back in 1951.
Week 14 at Texas A&M Aggies

Game Details: Nov. 30 between 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. (Network TBA)
After a 7-6 record in 2023 with a 4-4 record in the SEC, the decided to part ways with Jimbo Fisher in favor of Duke’s Mike Elko. The meeting between A&M and Texas is going to be something to behold this year as it will be the first meeting between the two sides since 2011. The Longhorns do lead the all-time series 76-37-5.
